WHAT'S INCLUDED
Our Speech Therapy Services
At Health at Home, our Speech Therapy Services are designed to help individuals improve communication, cognition, and swallowing function in the comfort of their own home. Our licensed speech-language pathologists provide compassionate, patient-centered care tailored to each client’s unique needs and goals.
Evaluation and Assesment
Our speech therapists begin with a comprehensive evaluation to identify communication, cognitive, or swallowing challenges. We assess areas such as speech clarity, language comprehension and expression, voice quality, fluency, cognitive-communication skills, and swallowing safety to develop a clear understanding of each client’s needs.
Individualized Therapy Plans
Following assessment, we create a customized therapy plan designed specifically for each client. These plans focus on meaningful, functional goals that support improved communication, safer swallowing, and greater independence in daily life.
Swallowing Therapy (Dysphagia Care)
Our speech therapists are trained to evaluate and treat swallowing disorders to support safe eating and drinking. We develop individualized strategies to improve swallowing function, reduce aspiration risk, and ensure proper nutrition and hydration.
Articulation and Phonological Therapy
We provide targeted therapy to improve speech clarity and sound production. Through structured exercises and guided practice, clients work to strengthen articulation skills and increase overall speech intelligibility in everyday conversations.
Language and Fluency Therapy
Our language and fluency therapy services support individuals who experience challenges with understanding or expressing language, as well as those with speech flow difficulties such as stuttering. We address vocabulary development, sentence structure, grammar, comprehension, and expressive language skills, while also using evidence-based strategies to improve fluency, reduce speech disruptions, and build confident communication in daily interactions.
Voice Therapy
Our combined language and fluency therapy services support individuals who experience challenges with understanding or expressing language, as well as those with speech flow difficulties such as stuttering. We address vocabulary development, sentence structure, grammar, comprehension, and expressive language skills, while also using evidence-based strategies to improve fluency, reduce speech disruptions, and build confident communication in daily interactions.
KNOW THE SIGNS
When To Consider Speech Therapy at Home?
Communication and swallowing challenges can develop gradually or appear after a medical event. If you notice any of the signs below, in-home speech therapy from Health at Home may help restore function, confidence, and safety.
-
Changes in Speech Clarity
If speech has become harder to understand, words sound slurred, or pronunciation has declined, speech therapy can help improve clarity and communication effectiveness.
-
Difficulty Finding Words or Expressing Thoughts
Struggling to complete sentences, frequently pausing, or having trouble expressing ideas may indicate a need for language support.
-
Trouble Understanding Conversations or Instructions
If following conversations, remembering directions, or processing spoken language has become more difficult, therapy can help strengthen comprehension skills.
-
Stuttering or Disrupted Speech Flow
Repetitions, prolonged sounds, or difficulty speaking smoothly may impact confidence and communication. Fluency therapy can help improve speech flow and reduce frustration.
-
Voice Changes or Vocal Strain
A hoarse, weak, breathy, or strained voice that does not improve over time may signal a voice disorder that benefits from targeted therapy.
-
Difficulty Swallowing Food or Liquids
Coughing, choking, or feeling discomfort when eating or drinking may indicate a swallowing disorder that requires professional evaluation and treatment.
-
Recent Stroke, Neurological Condition, or Hospitalization
Speech, language, and swallowing issues are common after medical events such as stroke, Parkinson’s disease, or extended hospital stays. Early therapy can improve recovery outcomes.
-
Social Withdrawal Due to Communication Challenges
Avoiding conversations, phone calls, or social situations due to difficulty speaking or being understood can be a strong sign that therapy may help rebuild confidence.
